Analytical Facilities

CMRC affiliates have direct access to world-class laboratories and analytical instrumentation within the Bureau of Economic Geology (BEG), the UT Institute for Geophysics (UTIG), the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences (EPS), the Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering (PGE), and through centers like the Texas Materials Institute (TMI).
These facilities offer a wide range of cutting-edge mineral analytical systems that enable macro- to nano-scale characterization of critical mineral–rich samples, including scanning electron microscopes, an electron microprobe, a micro-CT scanner, Laser Particle Size Analyzers (LPSA), and laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) systems.
